India’s first special economic zone (SEZ) exclusively for a port will be developed by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) on 276 hectares of land near Mumbai port. “We conducted a feasibility study of the proposed SEZ and the proposal has been sent to the central government for final approval,” JNPT chairman SS Hussain said.
Hussain said the SEZ would have both processing and non-processing units to meet the requirements not only of JNPT, but also the proposed airport planned near Mumbai....
