Italian intermodal rail operator General Transport Service SpA (GTA) has obtained a rail operating licence, having finally (two years after it applied) obtained its safety certificate from the relevant authority (ANSF).
The first of three TRAXX 483DC locos ordered from Bombardier for €3.5M each has already been delivered and GTS Rail will enter the rail freight market on its own account in Italy in January 2010. The safety certificate does not yet cover hazardous cargoes, but GTS’s managing director Alessio Muciaccia is confident that this will follow within a matter of months....
