The Port of Aarhus (Århus Havn A/S) is Denmark’s largest container port and demand is rapidly outstripping supply. Last year, the port handled 403,000 TEU which, although down from the exceptional 2001 performance of 409,000 TEU, should be exceeded this year.
The main operator, Aarhus Stevedoring Company (ASK), which handles two thirds of the traffic, has seen a 13 per cent increase in the first six months of this year and is pressing the port for a new terminal to handle increasing volumes....
