World production of container desiccants is continuing to rise in line with growth in demand. As the performance of the most commonly used desiccant materials (mainly calcined clay and anhydrous calcium chloride) has been improved in recent years, so has their use become increasingly prevalent in the protection of many types of containerised freight. Indeed, just about any product being shipped from equatorial regions to cooler temperate zones, where ambient temperatures may vary by up to 40degC, can benefit from the use of desiccants....
