Increasing use of energy chains in place of festoon systems, cable reels and conductor bars has prompted several power system suppliers to devote more R&D funds to chain systems. Wampfler’s 2002 annual report, for example, noted that R&D is “focused on the enhancement of energy guiding chains, which are being used in increasingly larger systems, as well as on conductor rails and high capacity cable reels for high speed use.”...
