Russia faces up to intermodal challenge

After the chaos of the late 1990s, Russia’s economy is getting back on track. It recorded 7 percent growth in 2003 and, according to Goldman Sachs, will be one of the top five world economies by 2030.

Vladimir Ashurkov, former president of the National Container Company (NCC) and now Principal at TransCare’s Moscow office, believes that this growth, underpinned by the steady development of industrial output and a rapidly expanding consumer market, is sustainable....
