Time for innovation in tank components

The number of challenges facing tank equipment suppliers has continued to grow in recent years. The list now includes the push for component standardisation, tank top working hazards, transport security, increasingly strict environmental controls and the ongoing drive to reduce unit costs.

Against such a demanding working environment, the component maker fraternity could do with some positive developments, not least strengthening market demand. For a while in 2003, it appeared as if this was about to happen, as the number of orders for new tank containers began to pick up, after five years of depressed market conditions, on the back of a strengthening global economy and improving chemical industry performance in the major industrialised nations....
