Crane simulators are becoming more common in the container port industry.
Crane simulators have been around since the late 1980s but were initially very expensive and were almost exclusively purchased by the largest terminal operators or pan-terminal organisations such as the US west coast Pacific Maritime Association (PMA). To give an idea of the investment required, P&O Ports had a simulator built by Applied Research International of India with a view to moving it around its terminals in a shipping container as required....
