Shanghai leads the race west

Shanghai is looking to the Yangshan development and Yangtze river network to sustain its phenomenal growth rate, but it faces increasing competition from Ningbo.

Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) is making a series of investments at terminals in Shanghai and along the Yangtze river delta in a bid to establish Shanghai as the premier gateway for the mid-central region. Its strategy is to provide a transport system based around feedering cargo down the Yangtze to terminals at Waigaoqiao and eventually the new Yanghsan development....
