Cargo handling equipment simulators appear to be catching on fast. They provide a secure training environment and may enable equipment to be become fully productive sooner after commissioning.
Handling equipment simulators that allow training in a controlled environment away from the hurly burly of port operations are increasingly being used by pan-terminal training organisations such as port authorities and port associations. Globalsim of the US has been awarded a contract by the New York Shipping Association (NYSA) for straddle carrier and crane simulators that can be integrated to allow two trainees to interact with each other in the training environment....
