A new A$9.7M freight hub will be built at Dooen in north-western Victoria, with the help of a A$2.2M grant from the state government. The proposed Wimmera Regional Intermodal Freight Hub, 11 km north-east of Horsham on the Adelaide-Melbourne rail line, will replace an aging terminal at Horsham station.
The Wimmera region is one of Victoria’s key agriculture areas, with extensive dryland cropping, livestock farming and wool production industries and the project is the first to be announced as part of the government’s A$20M Intermodal Freight Infrastructure programme to promote intermodal freight hubs in provincial Victoria....
