After a decade of prevarication, the New South Wales government has moved to establish two major metropolitan intermodal terminals to take landside congestion pressure off Port Botany.
New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma has finally accepted the recommendations of the governmentappointed Freight Infrastructure Advisory Board (FIAB) and approved the long-planned Enfield Intermodal Terminal as well as a new facility at Moorebank on what is now Commonwealth land. “The freight plan I am announcing will help deliver one of my government’s most important economic initiatives,” Iemma said. “Port Botany is a vital piece of infrastructure and we’re making a A$500M investment to expand its capacity....
