There is renewed speculation of a tie-up between the New Zealand South Island ports of Lyttelton and Port Otago.
After a period in which Port Otago Ltd, which controls Dunedin and Port Chalmers, declared itself “comfortable” with its 15% holding in Lyttelton Port Company (LPC) and denied that any toplevel talks were occurring between the two, Otago chairman John Gilks recently said his company may make the first move given that the current environment is “right for talks to start.”...
