The port sector across the Eastern Mediterranean region is currently a “hot bed” of industrial action, as governments keen to transfer the management of port terminals to private operators clash with trade unions determined to retain state control.
One has to be careful in drawing comparisons between the situations in Greece and Turkey, if only Turkey already has several successful private sector container and roro terminal operations, but they are less well developed in Greece....
