New Jersey-based software consultancy Advent Inc has completed development of a terminal management system for Ceres Terminals Inc’s Port of Charleston, Columbus Street and North Charleston Terminals.
Under Advent’s source code licensing agreement, Ceres will pay no ongoing maintenance fee and now takes ownership of the software and responsibility for future development. Typical maintenance fees for a TOS are in the 15-20% of license fee range and are meant to cover the cost of support and ongoing product development. Advent partner Parvez Mansuri says terminals actually have different support and development requirements and Advent’s model lets them chose whether to meet these in-house, using local contractors or contract Advent on a time and materials basis....
