Mobile harbour crane numbers will be down this year, but the market is interesting all the same. It is too early, however, to speculate about what Terex Corp’s purchase of Fantuzzi Noell means for the future of Reggiane, or what Kirow Ardelt’s entry into the sector, with the Adler 500 (see WorldCargo News, June 2009, p1), could mean long term. For the time being, the company has said it is aiming at medium level bulk handling applications.
Regarding Reggiane all we know so far is that Terex does not see Terex Fuchs’ hydraulic, ropeless cranes (excavator base) as part of a continuum with Reggiane’s rope hoist cranes. Probably, it needs to sort out the Italian operations of Fantuzzi Noell before being able to take a broader view....
