Construction work has begun on Israel’s Carmel Port, which will come under the administrative umbrella of Haifa Port Authority. The initial development comprises a 700m long quay dedicated to container handling, although other existing port areas will also be upgraded.
The overall project has been given an approximate cost of US$266 mill, which will include infill, the construction of new quays, reinforced infrastructure beneath the water, drainage and new communications systems. The initial phase is due to open within four years....
