Maersk Line’s new generation of containership has an official capacity of 11,000 TEU. That is at least 10% more than the next biggest ships being built by Samsung for Seaspan (for China Shipping), but capacity of the newbuildings from AP Moller-Maersk’s Odense yard has already unofficially been put at 12,000-13,500 TEU.
Maersk understated the capacity of its 6000 TEU ships, so commentators are bound to speculate about the size of the new ones. The first ship, newbuilding L-203, was formally named EMMA MAERSK at the Danish yard this month....
