Two new trimodal inland terminals are to be built in Germany with the aim of improving container logistics.
First, Maersk Line has signed a long term contract with Neuss Düsseldorfer Häfen GmbH & Co KG for its own dedicated operation. The 100% Maersk subsidiary operation will be the hub of what Maersk calls its “green pipeline” for the Ruhr area. Officially the emphasis will be on environmentfriendly intermodal rail and barge operations, leaving road as a third mode in the physical value chain....
