Hong Kong-based Lotus Containers has been on the wrong end of a scam in China that resulted in what appeared to be a bona fide customer effectively stealing 120 20ft dry freight containers supplied under a long term lease agreement. The company is warning other container lessors to be on the lookout for similar scams.
According to Lotus president Willem Dous, in September 2008 Yuan Wentao, a director of New Onto Shipping International, introduced Lotus to Li Yongxu, general manager of Dalian Minghui Shipping Agency Co Ltd (DMS)....
