People on the move

Bromma has ppointed Vikram Raman as VP, sales and services. After a career of 51 years, Hapag-Lloyd executive board member Adolf Adrion is retiring at the end of the year

Sweden-based Bromma Group, the world's biggest container spreader company and part of Cargotec, has appointed Vikram Raman to the new position of vice-president, sales and services. He previously served as a member of the Bromma management team in the VP, services position.

The new position at Bromma consolidates the VP services and VP sales responsibilities. The latter position was formerly held by Lars Fredin, who has left Bromma “to pursue other business opportunities.”

Hapag-Lloyd announced that Adolf Adrion, its former chairman and CEO, is retiring at the end of the year after 51 years with the company.

Herr Adrion handed over the operational side of his work in mid-year to his executive board colleague Ulrich Kranich, thus ensuring a smooth transition.

Herr Kranich has held various posts at Hapag-Lloyd in Germany and overseas since 1975. He was appointed as member of the executive board with effect from July 1st 2006 and been responsible for the operative shipping area since June 2008.

“Hapag-Lloyd is certainly very special and took a place in my life that often put my private interests in the background,” said Herr Adrion. He added that the fact that the company will remain independent was the “finest gift” on his retirement.
