Hartmut Mehdorn has been forced to resign as CEO of Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s biggest public company, in the wake of a “staff spying” scandal. Rüdiger Grube , currently chairman of the Superivsory Board of EADS, has been nominated by federal transport minister Wolfgang Tiefensee to succeed Mehdorn as CEO of DB and DB Mobility Logistics, although the train drivers’ union is understood to be opposed to Grube’s appointment.
Dertje Meijer, head of the Port of Amsterdam’s commercial division) has been appointed acting CEO, following the departure of Hans Gerson, who has now been inaugurated as the Alderman of the City of Amsterdam.
Bisey Urab has been appointed CEO of Namibian Ports Authority.
Heinrich Ahlers is stepping down as managing director of Cuxport GmbH and as the member of the Rhenus board responsible for sea port/terminal business and is joining Buss group, Hamburg as managing director of is ports division.
Emmanuel Delachambre has stepped down as director general of SNCF Fret’s affiliate VFLI and has joined rival operator Euro Cargo Rail, now part of DB Schenker. Nicolas Gindt has replaced Delachambre at VFLI.
Jesper Kjaedegaard (Maercator International and The Maersk Company Ltd) is the new chairman of the British Chamber of Shipping. Jan Kopernicki (Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Ltd) is the new vice president.
