Some high level appointments have been announced
David T Matsuda has been nominated by President Barack Obama to lead the Maritime Administration (Marad). Matsuda has served since July of this year as deputy administrator and acting administrator of the agency.
The President also nominated Michael P Huerta, a former Clinton Administration official, to be deputy administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration.
The British Secretary of State for Transport, Lord Adonis, has appointed Helen Alexander, CBE, as Chairman of the Board of the Port of London Authority (PLA), with effect from 1 January 2010. She will succeed Simon Sherrard, who has been PLA Chairman since 2001.
Helen Alexander is president of the CBI and has been a non-executive director of the PLA since June this year. She is also Chairman of Incisive Media, and a non-executive director of Rolls Royce plc and Centrica plc.
Konecranes has provided details of the two-tiered management structure announced earlier this year. The new structure consists of the Group Executive Board and the extended management team (EMT).
The Group Executive Board members are: Pekka Lundmark, President, CEO and Chairman; Hannu Rusanen, EVP and Head of Business Area Service; Mikko Uhari, EVP and Head of Business Area Equipment; Harry Ollila, EVP and Head of Market Operations; Teo Ottola, COO; Pekka Lettijeff, Chief Procurement Officer and Ari Kiviniitty, Chief Technology Officer.
Members of the EMT include the SVPs of the regional organisations; VP, General Counsel; VP, Human Resources; VP, Marketing & Communications; and the Chief Information Officer.
Ryan Flynn has been appointed SVP and Head of Konecranes’ operations in the Northeast Asia (NEA) region and a member of the EMT. Flynn, who previously worked for Konecranes as Director, Ports, Northeast and Southeast Asia. replaces Harry Ollila, who, as mentioned above, is now an EVP and Head of Konecranes’ newly established Marketing Operations function.
The Chief Information Officer is Antti Koskelin.
Pekka Päkkilä is leaving Konecranes as of February 1, 2010.
Aku Lehtinen has been appointed SVP and Head of Konecranes’ operations in the NEI region. The appointment is effective as of February 1, 2010, also reporting to Harry Ollila.
Tomas Myntti has been appointed Director, Industrial Cranes, region NEI, reporting to Aku Lehtinen.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service has appointed Siri Jacobsen as Vice President, International Customer Services, and Thomas Smordalen as Vice President, International Sales. Both are to be part of the Central Management Team (CMT).
Clive Broadley, the managing director of the international division of Meachers Global Logistics, has taken over from Jean-Claude Delen as president of CLECAT, the Brussels based European Association for forwarding, transport, logistic and customs services.
Delen was recently elected president of FIATA. Broadley is a previous chairman of BIFA and currently serves on its Board of Directors. The election follows the recent election of Christine D’Arcy, Chair of the BIFA Legal and Insurance Policy Group, as Vice President of FIATA, joining the Extended Board, and the appointment of BIFA’s Executive Director, Robert Keen as Chairman of the FIATA Working Group Sea and thus Vice Chair of the Multimodal Transport Institute Global engineering group,
Cavotec MSL, has appointed a new CFO, Diego Fiorentini, who will relieve the current holder of the position, John Polatz, on January 1, 2010.
Fiorentini joins Cavotec from Italmobiliare, the holding company of the Italcementi group. Polatz has returned to the USA for personal reasons and remains at Cavotec as Investor Relations Manager for the time being. Fiorentini will be based in Lugano
