Regular update of personnel changes in the maritime and port industries
Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd (MOL) has announced the promotions of President Akimitsu Ashida to Chairman of the Board; and Senior Managing Executive Officer Koichi Muto to President. The new appointments will be confirmed at a meeting of the Board of directors following the AGM on June 22.
P&O Ferrymasters has appointed Phillip Jones as its new Commercial Director. He replaces Mark Mulder, who left the company in January.
Ports America Group has named Michael F Hassing its President and CEO, replacing Stephen Edwards. Hassing joins from Scandlines GmbH, where he was CEO. His other senior posts in the past include CEO of Samskip and CEO of Maersk in the UK.
A J "Pete" Reixach Jr, Executive Port Director and CEO of Port Freeport, Texas has been chosen chairman-elect of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA).
Reixach is slated to be installed as chairman for a one-year term on the final day of AAPA's 99th annual convention, set for September 19-23 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He will assume the chairmanship from Michael A Leone, port director of the Massachusetts Port Authority.
Peter F Klaus has joined the NC State Ports Authority Business and Economic Development team as vice president, liner sales, based in Wilmington, NC.
Kansas City Southern has promoted Warren K Erdman to the post of EVP, Administration and Corporate Affairs, reporting to KCS chairman and CEO Michael R Haverty.
Cargotec has appointed Pekka Vauramo as COO, continuing also as deputy CEO. Vauramo previously led the Industrial & Terminal business area (Kalmar and Hiab brands). In his new role he is responsible for Cargotec's three business areas (ie those two brands plus MacGregor) and Cargotec Regions.
As of 1 April 2010 Cargotec's businesses will be reorganised into three business areas: Marine, Industrial & Terminal and Services. Cargotec's financial reporting will, as earlier announced, be based on two reporting segments, Marine and Industrial & Terminal.
In financial reporting the Services business will be included in the figures of these two reporting segments while its sales will continue to be reported as additional information.
The development of services in both Marine and Industrial & Terminal segments will be driven by a joint Services organisation. Stefan Gleuel, who previously led Service Solutions in the Industrial & Terminal business area, has been appointed EVP, Services. The Industrial & Terminal organisation will encompass the previous Product Solutions organisation.
Unto Ahtola, who was previously responsible for Product Solutions, Industrial & Terminal, has been appointed to lead the Industrial & Terminal business area as EVP.
Cavotec MSL has appointed Michael Scheepers as Group Manager, Investor Relations & Corporate Communications, taking over from John Polatz. Scheepers started at Cavotec in 2002 and most recently served as Manager, Corporate Communications & PR.
