Regular update of appointments and departures in the shipping and port industries
Martin Lindqvist has been appointed as the new CEO of SSAB. He is currently head of the company’s largest business area, SSAB EMEA, and will succeed Olof Faxander, on January 1, 2011. Olof Faxander will become the new CEO of Sandvik AB.
Iron ore pellets shipper Ferrexpo has appointed Brian Maynard, formerly with Vale Australia and Vale Inco as group COO with effect from 10 January 2011.
Martyn Pellew has stepped down from his post as PD Ports’ group development director.
Larry Bustle has been re-elected chairman of Manatee County Port Authority Other MCPA officers elected with Bustle include: John Chappie, first vice chairman; Carol Whitmore, second vice chairman; and Robin DiSabatino, third vice chairman.
Wayne Darbeau, who has been serving as the Interim President/CEO of the Port of San Diego, has been appointed to the position permanently.
The Port of Tacoma has named Sue Mauermann senior director of Facilities Development, a position she has held on an interim basis since January.
Howard Tenens has appointed Dan Morris as MD (property) and Ben Morris as MD operations, both reporting into Peter Morris, Chairman and CEO.
GEFCO UK has appointed Peter Duranti as transport operations manager and Cedric Chacon as UK overland manager.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service has appointe Stephan Bennfeldt as freight forwarding centre manager, based at Sittensen, near Hamburg.
