The latest round-up of new appointments and personnel changes in the global shipping, ports and transportation industries
Peter Younger, CEO and president of Cronos Ltd, has been elected Chairman of the Institute of International Container Lessors (OOCL), succeeding Joseph Kwok of SeaCube Containers LLC.
Jacques Saadé has been reappointed as president and CEO of CMA CGM, assisted by three executive officers, Rodolphe Saadé , Farid T Salem and Philippe Soulié . M Soulié is scheduled to take over the CEO role towards the end of this year. Other directors are Tanya Saadé-Zeweny , Tristan Vieljeux , Denis Ranque and Christian Garin . New members of the Board, following Yildirim group's US$500M investment in 20% of CMA CGM's share capital, are Robert Yüksel Yildirim , Evren Oztürk and Ecüment Erdem .
Former Deutsche Bank manager Christian Strenger is set to join the Supervisory Board of Hapag-Lloyd, significantly as a joint nomination of TUI and John Fredriksen.
Frank Bünte has joined the Management Board of the Rickmers Group as Chief Treasury and Risk Officer. Previously he was with HSH Nordbank AG, where he was latterly responsible for the bank’s entire domestic shipping company business.
MOL (America) has appointed three new regional sales managers to expand its commitment to refrigerated cargo services: Mark McQueen, regional manager, reefer sales, Atlantic Region; Larry Flading, regional manager, reefer sales, Central Region; and Pat Ryan, regional manager, reefer sales, Pacific Region.
Rob Chesters has been appointed as Business Manager for Regulatory Products and Services (formerly branded as Safety and Environment) at Wilhelmsen Ship Service, reporting to the Business Stream Director, Andrew Sheriff.
Roy Schleicher has been promoted to the position of Executive Vice President for Jacksonvile Port Authority, Florida (Jaxport). Schleicher previously served as Jaxport's chief commercial officer.
Griffith Lynch will assume the position of chief operating officer of the Georgia Ports Authority in mid-March, joining from Global Container Terminals, where he most recently served as vice president at the Bayonne, NJ terminal.
Kevin Bradley has been named President, Terex Cranes, succeeding Richard Nichols, who has left the company. Terex Corp's president and COO Thomas Riordan has also resigned, but his position will not be filled in the near term and his responsibilities have been assumed by Ronald M DeFeo, Terex Chairman and CEO. Ramon Oliu has been appointed President of Terex Financial Services, succeeding Mr Bradley.
Konecranes Plc’s Nomination and Compensation Committee will propose the following Board to the AGM on March 31. The Committee proposes that the following current Board members be re-elected - Mr Svante Adde, Mr Kim Gran, Mr Stig Gustavson, Mr Tapani Järvinen, Mr Matti Kavetvuo, Ms Malin Persson and Mr Mikael Silvennoinen. Of the current members of the Board Mr Tomas Billing has announced that he will not be available for re-election. The Committee proposes that Ms Nina Kopola, Executive Vice President of Dynea Oy, replaces him.
François Coart, strategy director of Europorte, the Groupe Eurotunnel affiliate, has been elected as President of the European Rail Freight Association.
Geert Pauwels has been named managing director of SNCB Logistics, adding to the position of head of SNCB Freight that he has held since mid-2008.
Envirotainer’s Board of Directors has appointed Niklas Prager, currently Chairman of the Board, as the company’s new CEO. He succeeds Thomas Persson, who will remain with the company as Senior Advisor on special projects and serve on the Board of Directors.
California-based Purfresh has appointed John Harnett as senior director, Purfresh Transport, and Dr Malcolm Dodd as manager, Purfresh Africa.
Sea Freeze (City Ice), a cold storage provider on the Port of Seattle, has appointed Bonnie Geise Vice President of Business Development.
Geodis Calberson, the UK road transport and logistics division of global logistics solutions provider Geodis (SNCF Group) has appointed Anna Kozlowska as marketing manager with responsibility for the Fortec Pallet Distribution Network. Peter Baumann has been appointed Global Director, Automotive, Geodis Wilson, in charge of developing and expanding the company’s automotive logistics business worldwide.
Michael Steen, EVP and COO of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc, has been elected as the new Chairman of the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA). He was previously Vice Chairman of TIACA during the Chairmanship of Ulrich Ogiermann, former president and CEO of Cargolux Airlines International, who has retired from his role as Chairman of TIACA for personal reasons. TIACA has also announced Oliver Evans, Chief Cargo Officer at Swiss International Air Lines, and Jason Foote, VP International Air Operations, UPS Airlines as new Board members, effective immediately.
Professor Alan Waller OBE is the new International President of the UK-based Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT). Although International President-elect since May last year, Alan has taken over the role earlier than planned due to the death of Len Harper, of CILT Australia. CILT (UK), meanwhile, has nominated Peter Hendy CBE, Commissioner, Transport for London, as President-elect. He will take over as President from Sir Moir Lockhead OBE this May.
