Latest round-up of appointments in the port, port equipment and transportation sectors
The Manatee County Port Authority has hired Carlos Buqueras as Port Manatee’s new executive director, with effect from January 2, 2012. Buqueras is currently director of business development at Port Everglades in Ft Lauderdale. He was selected from a field of more than 80 applicants to succeed David L McDonald , who is retiring on January 31, 2012 after more than 36 years at the port.
Mike Compton, MBE is retiring from his posts as Chairman of the ICHCA Safety Panel (ISP) and Technical Advisor to ICHCA International at the end of ISP 65 in London next January (23 and 24 January).
ICHCA has decided to split the jobs undertaken by Mr Compton into two positions. Capt Richard W A Brough, OBE has been named as the new Technical Advisor to ICHCA International, while Richard Marks of Royal Haskoning will become the new ISP Chairman.
Jörg Hoffmann was recently appointed to the Board of Aumund Fördertechnik GmbH. Previously the director of Schade Lagertechnik, an Aumund daughter company, Hoffman will work with Franz-Walter Aumund and Dr Volker Brandenburg and will be responsible for the operational side of the business and expanding international sales.
Mikko Sampo, co-founder of Modulaire Oy, further closely involved in the development of the Modulaire and Savcor One D-GPS container position determination systems and AutoSteering solutions, which were subsequently incorporated into Konecranes, is retiring from Konecranes at the beginning of December, to pursue other interests in the container terminal business sector.
Martin Zumtobel, Chairman of Identec group, based in Austria, has announced the appointment of Brian Neil Robertson as CEO of Identec Solutions, based in Dallas, Texas. He joins the company from DSP Group, Inc, where he was President, and replaces Gerhard Schedler, the long-standing President and CEO who left the company recently.
Cargotec has appointed Tom Svennevig as Vice President responsible for the company's MacGregor advanced load-handling business line as of 24 October 2011. He joins Cargotec from Aker Pusnes in Norway where he was Vice President, Deck Machinery.The post is based in Kristiansand, Norway, and Svennevig also assumes the role of Managing Director of Cargotec Norway AS. He takes over from Ilpo Heikkilä, who earlier this year was appointed Vice President for the winch business line, based in Singapore.
Toll Global Forwarding has appointed Siegfried Nottelmann as Managing Director, Germany. Nottelmann joined Toll in August, when his company Andree & Wilkerling was acquired by the group as part of its ongoing European expansion. He had been Andree & Wilkerling’s MD since 2005.
