Rederi TransAtlantic AB has appointed Kim Hedegaard Sörensen as CEO of its industrial shipping division. A former head of strategy with Maersk Line, he joins TransAtlantic from the European region of DAMCO in Rotterdam, where he will be replaced by Flemming Frost who has been with the Maersk group for 27 years.
Percy Österströms, the present CEO of industrial shipping, will hand over to Mr Sörensen and become a Senior Vice President of the compaany.
Frédéric Henry, the president of Lubrizol France, has been elected president of the Supervisory Board of the Port of Rouen (Conseil de Surveillance du Grand Port Maritime de Rouen), succeeding Alain Bréau, who retired from the post.
Philippe Deiss, the president of the Management Board (Directoire) of the Port of Rouen, has been named as the president of GIE HAROPA, the new joint grouping of the Seine corridor ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris. The presidency will rotate among the three member ports annually.
Col. Leonard D Waterworth has been appointed as the interim executive director of the Port of Houston Authority. He most recently served as president/chief executive officer of Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation, a Texas-based engineer consulting firm. The port commissioners have also approved a professional services contract with Boyden World Corporation to identify candidates for employment as Executive Director
Steven Cernak, Port Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Galveston, has been selected as Chief Executive/Port Director of Port Everglades, Floria. will replace He will replace Phillip C Allen, who has just retired after leading Port Everglades since 2006; at the time of writing, his start date has not been finalised.
The Port of Galveston has not yet announced a replacement for Cernak. He took over at Galveston in 2002, after Kay Moore resigned following voters' decision to reject the plan to cede ownership of the city's docks to the Port of Houston.
L Ehrhardt Joe Nielsen, the former CFO for APM Terminals’ activities in the Americas Region has been named Managing Director, Latin American Terminals, based in Panama.
He replaces Henrik L Pedersen who, in another senior appointment at APM Terminals, has been named as Chief Executive Officer for the Asia-Pacific Region based in Shanghai. As well as running APMT's Latin America operations since 2008, he is a former CFO of DAMCO Greater China Area based in Shanghai.
Peel Ports has appointed Douglas Coleman as Programme Director for the construction of the planned in-river container terminal at the Port of Liverpool, that will link with Port Bridgewater and Port Salford on the Manchester Ship Canal.
He jopins from Forth Ports where he headed the development of the £1B master plan for Leith Docks. He was also formerly Project Manager of the £1.2B Glasgow Harbour project, which involved a secondment to Peel Ports company Clydeport.
Laurent Castaing, the president of the Management Board of the Port of Le Havre, has been nominated General Manager of STX France, in replacement for Jacques Hardelay.
Patrick Zilles has taken charge the intermodal activities of DB Schenker Logistics, based at Schenker AG headquarters in Essen. The post, a new one within Schenker Logistics, includes management of combined transport operator DB Schenkerhangartner, and has been created "in light of the growing importance of intermodal solutions," according to a company statement.
Ocean Safety, a leading independent marine safety equipment supplier in the UK, has appointed Aidan Morrissey to help develop its offshore markets in the North and East coast areas. The post is based in Aberdeen.
