Our latest round-up of appointments in the shipping port and allied industries
After 10 years with the Rickmers Group and especially with Rickmers-Linie, Jan B Steffens will step down from the twin positions of CEO of Rickmers Holding and of Rickmers-Linie on 31 March 2012, although he will continue to serve on the Rickmers Group Advisory Board.
Ronald D Widdows, former CEO of NOL/APL, will become the new Chief Executive Officer of Rickmers Holding and Rickmers-Linie as of 1 April 2012. Rickmers’ Chief Financial Officer Dr Ignace Van Meenen will act as his deputy.
Romn Widdows is currently the Chairman of the World Shipping Council, based in Washington DC, and is on the Advisory Boards of the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY and the International Transport Forum, based in Europe. He is a past Chairman of the Transpacific Stabilisation Agreement.
Dr Mark-Ken Erdmann will join Rickmers Group as Deputy CFO in Hamburg on 1 July 2012. He will report to Dr Ignace Van Meenen. Dr Erdmann is joining Rickmers from Bertelsmann AG, where he has been CIO and Member of the Corporate Centre Board, as well as CEO of the in-house consulting division.
Kari Savolainen had his last working day as CEO of Steveco on 13 January 2012 and has taken up a new post as CEO of Finavia Corporation’s CEO. Henri Kuitunen is the new CEO of Steveco.
The Northwest Marine Terminal Association, Inc has elected Deb Taylor, Port of Vancouver (WA) as its new president. Mike Nimmo, Port of Port Angeles, is the new vice president, and Tom Tanaka, Port of Seattle, is the Treasurer. Patti Fulghum continues as Executive Officer.
Milford Haven Port has appointed Dick Moore, previously Marketing Director, as Deep Sea Director. Kevin Hobbs has been brought in as Short Sea Director, taking charge of Pembroke Port, Milford Docks and Marina and MHPA’s Estates portfolio, Quayside Estates. Jeff Teague, who has managed the Port’s estates division for many years, is appointed Estates Director, reporting to Kevin Hobbs.
Former Harbourmaster Mark Andrews has been appointed Corporate Affairs Director with lead responsibility for stakeholder engagement. Deputy Harbourmaster Bill Hirst has taken over as Harbourmaster.
David Madden has been appointed senior director of operations for Performance Team, the Santa Fe-based firm that operates more than 5M ft2 of warehousing space and CFS facilities across the USA. The post is based in Chareleston. Performance Team has recently opened a cargo transloading facility at the CFS in the Port of Charleston's Wando Welch terminal.
Cargotec has appointed Frank Kho as Senior Vice President, Terminal Projects and Offerings. Frank Kho has more than 20 years of industry experience in several senior management positions at leading port operators, such as the Antwerp terminals of PSA and several terminals of HPH. He will be based at Cargotec's Singapore Competence Centre.
Jungheinrich UK Ltd has announced that Steve Richmond has been promoted to the position of Director of the company’s Systems and Projects Division.
Toll Global Forwarding has appointed Marinus Uleman as Managing Director, the Netherlands. Uleman joined Toll’s predecessor Baltrans in 2005 along with other colleagues from TNT Freight Management. Most recently, he was Branch Manager of Toll’s Rotterdam office.
