The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has appointed Jorge Luis Quijano as the new Panama Canal Administrator. He will succeed Alberto Alemán Zubieta, who has been at the helm of the Canal for the past 16 years and whose term will end on September 3, 2012.
Trond Kleivdal has been elected President of the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association. Lars Peder Solstad has been elected as the new vice-president.
Christine Cabau Woehrel, formerly with CMA CGM, has been appointed Chairman of the Port of Dunkirk's Management Board. She succeeds Martine Bonny, who, as previously reported, was appointed General Inspector of the Department of Sustainable Development in Paris last August. Since then, Stéphane Raison, Planning and Environment Director, has been interim Chairman.
Hervé Martel has been appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Port of Le Havre. Formerly Executive Director of Ports de Paris, he replaces Laurent Castaing. As previously reported, M Castaing was recently designated as General Manager of STX France.
Port Everglades has welcomed its new Chief Executive/Port Director Steven Cernak. As previously reported, Cernak was previously CEO of the Port of Galveston and he has replace Phillip C Allen, who recently retired after leading Port Everglades since 2006.
APM Terminals has opened a Hong Kong office, headed by Martin Gaard Christiansen, Chief Commercial Officer and a former CEO of the Asia Pacific region for APMT.
UK-based International Terminal Systems Ltd (ITS) has appointed Allan Jones as Head of Business Development.
Keith Newton, Senior Logistics Director at Kraft Foods, has been appointed the new Secretary General of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport International. He takes up the position on 1 May, succeeding Interim Secretary General Colm Holmes, who steps down from the role at the end of March.
