Following Dockwise's takeover of Fairstar Transport, Philip Adkins , and Willem Out have resigned as Fairstar's CEO and COO respectively and from the management Board and have been replaced by Robert Jan van Acker, of STG Sea Trucks, as CEO, and Erwin Hoogeveen, vice president of Dockwise's human capital management, as COO. The St. Lawrence Shipoperators (SLS) Board of Directors, based in Québec, has appointed Daniel Bélisle, Senior Vice-President of Oceanex, as its new Chairman, replacing Carole Campeau, SLS Chair in 2006-2008 and 2011-2012. M Bélisle has held various management positions in the marine industry, including Associate General Manager for CP Ships, VP, Finance for Terminus Racine (Montreal) Ltd, and VP, Marketing for Canada Maritime Agencies. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Maritime Employers' Association and the Canadian Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association and is a member of the Standard Compensation Act Liability Association’s Finance Committee.
Ghana’s candidate, Michael Achagwe Luguje has been elected the seventh Secretary-General of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMWACA). Mr Luguje polled 12 out of the 15 votes cast by Director Generals of various member ports within West and Central Africa to beat his competitor from Gambia, Jor Barteh. Luguje is a senior member of staff of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and is currently on secondment to the IMO as its regional co-ordinator for West and Central Africa.
Geir-Eilif Kalhagen has been selected as the Port of Longview's (Wa) next CEO to succeed long-time executive Ken O'Hollaren, with effect from 1 September. Kalhagen has worked in operations management for both SSA and Star Shipping, and most recently served as the general manager for Tidal Transport and Trading in the Columbia River.
International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI) has appointed Christian R Gonzalez as acting Head of Asian Region concurrent with his roles as VP and General Manager of the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT), with effect from 15 August, when Edgardo Q Abesamis retires. The latter will, however, continue to maintain his chairmanship and directorship in several subsidiaries on a non-executive capacity.
APM Terminals has appointed J D Nielsen as managing director of APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas SA de CV, APMT's new 32-year concession vehicle in the Mexican port.
Canaveral Port Authority's CEO J Stanley Payne will serve as the new Chairman of the Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development Council, the economic development arm of the Florida Department of Transportation. Payne also serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Port Authorities.
Thomas Toepfer has been appointed CFO of the Kion Group for four years with effect from 1 September, succeeding Harald Pinger who is leaving the company on 31 August. Dr Toepfer has been CFO and labour relations director of Kion's Still GmbH since June 2011.
The Board of Directors of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics has voted unanimously to elect Michael Segal the 2012 - 2013 chairman of the society. Segal is director, logistics & operations planning at Sappi Fine Paper North America and is also responsible for the Cloquet Terminal Railroad, a short line railroad located in Cloquet, Minnesota.
Thomas Schulz has been appointed to Schenker AG's Management Board and Thomas Lieb's contract as Chairman has been extended for another five years. Schulz will take over the human resources division next January, replacing Milagros Caiña-Andree, who has left the company. Lieb was appointed to the Schenker AG Management Board in 2011 and took over as Chairman in mid-2008.
Dr Michael A Kluger has resigned his posts as director of DB Schenker Logistics and member of the Management Board of Schenker Deutschland AG.
