Stena Line has appointed Captain Ian Davies as the Route Manager for its Irish Sea South region which covers strategic responsibility for the Fishguard–Rosslare and Holyhead-Dublin Port/Dun Laoghaire services.
John Carver has been appointed to the position of executive vice president of business development, Ports America, Inc, effective May 1. The position is based in New Jersey. Ports America has also promoted Chris Smith to the position of vice president, where he will be responsible for the breakbulk, bulk, and military operations on Atlantic, Gulf and West Coasts of the company’s business unit Ports America Stevedoring.
Juan José Suarez has been appointed director general of Tecon Quetzal, the new concession of Spain's Grup TCB at Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala.
Marco Conforti, a former CEO of PSA VTE Voltri, has been elected for a two-year term as President of Assiterminal, the association of Italian port terminal operators, taking over from Alessandro Giannini. Elected as new Vice Presidents were Gilberto Danesi (PSA VTE Voltri), Marco Simonetti (Contship Italia LSCT La Spezia) and Vito Totorizzo (Istop Spamat).
Stockton City Council members in California have re-elected Commissioner Stephen Griffen and elected new Commissioner Michael Patrick Duffey (replacing W Ronald Cole) to the Port of Stockton Board of Commissioners. Griffen was elected chairman of the board and Victor Mow vice chairman.
In New Zealand, Trevor Burt has been voted Chairman Elect at Lyttelton Port of Christchurch (LPC), with immediate effect. He will take over the role of Chairman on 30 June 2013, when current Chairman, Rodger Fisher, steps down. Burt is a Professional Director and has been on the LPC Board since November 2008 and Deputy Chairman since June 2011.
The General Assembly of the International Road Transport Union has appointed Umberto de Pretto as new Secretary General of the IRU. He replaces IRU Secretary General Martin Marmy and will assume this new function as of 1 June 2013. The IRU General Assembly honours Martin Marmy by naming him IRU Secretary General Emeritus "for his outstanding contribution to serving IRU Members and the road transport industry during his 35 year career at the IRU."
Nereo Marcucci, a former Managing Director of Contship Italia SpA, has been elected Chairman of Confetra, the Italian association of transport and logistics, succeeding Fausto Fori, a former Chairman of the Port of Livorno Authority and also, between 2007 and 2012, the Chairman of Assologistica. Also elected to the Confetra Board were Roberto Alberti, Ivana Cecconi, Andrea Gentile, Sebastiano Grasso, Riccardo Martini, Renzo Muratore, Guido Restelli, Francesco Tavassi, Viviana Trenti, Pietro Vavassori and Maurizio Vellisco.
Philippe Gilbert has taken over the responsibility as Regional Director Europe West of DB Schenker Logistics. He was formerly head of the freight management division of the SNCF subsidiary Geodis Wilson in Paris, France. Karl Nutzinger, who was responsible for the Region Europe West on an interim basis up to now, will concentrate on his responsibility as Member of the Board of Schenker AG, responsible for Land Transport.
Volga-Dnepr Group has appointed Sergey Reznikov as Vice President, Volga-Dnepr Unique Air Cargo (USA).

Timo Leskinen has been appointed Senior Vice President, Human Resources of Konecranes.
Jade Software has appointed Mark Demary as principal consultant for its US-based team, with responsibility for requirements analysis, implementation and consulting. Demary will be joined by Stephen Knights, principal consultant in Europe for Jade Master Terminals, who is relocating to the US temporarily for this project.
Ralf Bedranowsky has been appointed to DVB Bank's management team with effect from 1 July 2013 or earlier. Initially, he will assume responsibility for risk management on DVB's Board of Managing Directors. Following the retirement of Dagfinn Lunde from the Board of Managing Directors at the end of 2013, he will assume responsibility for the Bank's Shipping Finance business.
