Erik van der Noordaa has resigned as President and CEO of DNV GL Group, just three months after the merger between DNV and GL was approved by the authorities.
Dr Sebastian Jürgens has been named as the new joint managing director of the LHG from 1 January 2014. He takes over from Heinrich Beckmann who is leaving LHG at the end of this year. Dr Jürgens was a Board member of HHLA responsible for logistics and intermodal activities. At LHG he will be in charge of marketing and operations
The Supervisory Board of Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) has appointed Ingo Egloff, a member of the Hamburg City Parliament and the Bundestag for many years, as a HHM Executive Board Member. Egloff, who was a member of the Bundestag Commission for Economy and Technology for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and spokesman for his parliamentary group for the maritime economy, will take his new office on 1 January 2014. Together with Axel Mattern, he will constitute the Executive Board of HHM.
Tom Ward, previously Chief Engineer at Ports America, has returned to the consulting industry, having joined Parsons Brinckerhoff as Senior Maritime Planner, based in San Francisco. Ward will provide port, maritime and intermodal planning consulting services in the US market including operations analysis, site planning, process improvement and technology and equipment assessment.
Frans Jol has joined MSC's Terminal Investment Ltd as operations manager, based in Den Haag. Jol, of Esoware Consultancy BV and Jolconsultancy BV, was formerly operations director of Salerno Container Terminal (Gallozzi/Contship Italia).
Donald E Rupert has been appointed Vice President, US East Coast by APS Stevedoring, LLS, based in Long Beach, CA. Rupert has a 25-year industry background including time in P&O Ports, Hoegh Autoliners, US Navigation, Maher Terminals and Roadway Express.
Hannu Rusanen, currently a Konecranes Executive Vice President and Head of Business Area Equipment, has announced that he is leaving Konecranes to pursue other interests. The recruitment process for the new Head of Business Area Equipment has started. Mr. Rusanen is committed to staying with Konecranes until his successor has started in the company.
Thorsten Kuschel, formerly Group Procurment Manager, APM Terminals, has joined Phoenix Products Company as the newest member of Phoenix's port and terminal division. Kuschel is based in Denmark and is responsible for port and terminal lighting in the European market.
Edwin Houweling has left Netherlands-based Houcon Cargo Systems BV and in January 2014 will become Managing Director of Straaltechniek International in Belgium. He will continue in an advisory role at Houcon until further notice.
Hans-Herbert Schultz is taking over responsibility for sales for Jungheinrich in NorthWest Europe and will be based in Germany, following a 10-year stint as Managing Director of Jungheinrich UK Ltd. Effective Jaunary 2014, he is succeeded in the latter post by Jan Lorenz, who has been with Jungheinrich Group for seven years.
Tobias Laxa is the new Group Marketing Manager of UniCarriers Europe GmbH, the common name under which the Atlet, Nissan and TCM industrial truck brands have been trading since their merger in 2012. The post is based in Meerbusch, Germany.
Carsten Hinne, currently Managing Director, Logistics at DB Schenker Rail UK, is to become Management Spokesman of DB Schenker BTT and head of the European Industry Sector, Chemicals at DB Schenker Rail. Jan Elfenhorst will take over management of sales. Both posts take effect from 1 January, 2014.
FedEx has appointed Trevor Hoyle as VP Operations FedEx UK & Ireland, effective January 1 2014. His appointment follows the recent appointments of David Binks, who will assume the role of Regional President, FedEx Express, EMEA and Michael Holt who will be promoted to Senior Vice President, European Operations.
Geodis Wilson has appointed Dean Devasia as Global Chief Information Officer (CIO), which is a post on the Freight Management Board. Dean Devasia moved into his new role of Global CIO, and member of the Freight Management Board.
