Maersk Line has appointed Craig Mygatt as CEO of SeaLand, a newly-created regional affiliate serving the intra-Americas market and reviving the SeaLand name.* The new SeaLand will be headquartered in the United States, with the exact location still to be determined. The new unit will officially commence operations on January 1, 2015. Maersk Line will begin the transition of its intra-Americas business to SeaLand in a phased approach throughout 2014.
MOL (America), Inc has promoted Richard Craig to the position of EVP, Sales and Operations. He will continue to report to Tsuyoshi Yoshida, President and Chief Executive Officer, MOL (America), Inc. Dennis Sheehan, VP, sales, is leaving the company and is being replaced by Richard Jung, who reports to Richard Craig.
Professor Gordon Shirley has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ). He succeeds Noel Hylton, who retired from the role on 1 November after 47 years with PAJ.
Emmanuel Moulin, up to recently Groupe Eurotunnel SA’s Chief Financial and Corporate Officer for Corporate Activities, has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Roberto Moreno has been appoined CEO of Schenker do Brasil Transportes Internacionais Ltda, part of DB Schenker Logistics. In Europe, DB Schenker Logistics has amalgamated the previous regions of Europe North and East into a single region and simplified the management structure. Göran Åberg, previously Regional Director of Europe East, is taking over management of the newly-created Region Europe North & East. Karsten Keller, formerly CFO of Region Europe North, will become CFO of the new region. Ingvar Nilsson, Regional Director for Europe North for the last eight years and head of the Swedish national subsidiary Schenker AB for many years, has retired. The Regional Head Office is based in Gothenburg. Management within the new region will also be partially restructured. Mats Grundius, currently responsible for land transport for the company and in the Region Europe North, will take over management of Schenker AB in Sweden. Mats Olsson, currently responsible for contract logistics and supply chain management in Sweden and in the Region Europe North, will take over management of land transport in Sweden. Most likely effective May 1, 2014, following successful consolidation of all Finnish national subsidiaries, Jouni Sopula, currently head of the Finnish Schenker Cargo Oy, will take over full control of the then consolidated national subsidiary Schenker Oy in Finland.
Greencarrier Shipping & Logistics AS has appointed a new head of the energy and projects business unit and opening an office in Stavanger, Norway. Georg Skivik Moltu, who was previously head of oil and gas and projects in Northern Europe for Panalpina, has been appointed Director Global Energy & Project Solutions and is based in the new Stavanger office. Ronny Johannessen will lead the team at the Stavanger office.
The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) has welcomed new members to its Board of Directors and installed its officers for the membership year. Katie Farmer, group vice president, consumer products of BNSF Railway, was elected as the Association’s vice chairman and joins IANA Chairman Phil Shook, director of intermodal at C.H. Robinson, and IANA Treasurer Don Aiken, vice president of intermodal operations at Schneider National Inc, who were both re-elected to their positions. Joining the 2014 Board of Directors are: Adriene B Bailey, vice president of strategic business development for the transportation division at Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc, filling an at-large seat; Kate Betsworth, vice president of intermodal operations at Union Pacific Railroad Company, also filling an at-large seat; Robert “Bob” Curry Jr, president and chief executive officer of California Multimodal LLC, filling a motor carrier division opening; and Keith Lovetro, president and chief executive officer of TRAC Intermodal, filling a supplier division seat.
Brian Butler has begun a two-year term as Chairman of the Board and one of six executive committee members of the US Industrial Truck Association (ITA), based in Washington, DC. Butler is president of Linde Material Handling North America Corp, which has headquarters and FLT manufacturing capabilities in Summerville, South Carolina. (fltaction.com).
BITA (British Industrial Truck Association) has announced two new appointments. Steve Stewart, Managing Director of Crown Lift Trucks Ltd, is joining the Management Board. Victoria Hutson, Principal Standards and Legislation Engineer with JCB, is the new Chairman of the Technical Policy Committee (TPC).
