Latest round-up of appointments known to WorldCargo News in the shipping and allied industries

MOL (America), Inc has appointed Michael Checchi to the position of vice president, area operations. He will lead MOL’s equipment, intermodal services, contract management, and operations administration groups for the United States and Canada. He served asdirector of intermodal operations for OOCL for the past 13 years and before that held posts ith Matson Intermodal System, Inc and APL Land Transport Services.

Juan Antonio Delgado, the Port Authority of Valencia's Deputy Managing Director and Director of Strategic Planning and Business Transformation, has been appointed as a member of the International Association of Ports & Harbours and as Chairman of its Port Operations and Logistics Committee.

Philippe Bertonèche and Franck Gonsse have been reappointed President and Vice President respectively of the Development Board of the Port of Dunkirk Authority.

The Port Authority of Szczecin-Swinoujscie has appointed Zbigniew Miklewicz as the new President of the Board.

Zeeland Seaports has named Jan Lagasse as interim CEO from 31 march 2014. He is curently EVP, Mergers & Acquisitions and Atrategic Projects with Fokker Technologies Holding and before that he held posts with Corus Steel and Dow Benelux. One task at ZSP will include reassessing the port authority’s strategic masterplan (ie now WCT) and implementing the new strategy.

The Port of Antwerp has appointed two new representatives in North Rhine-Westphalia, Robert Giraud and Hans Königs, who join Dr Dieter Lindenblatt as Antwerp’s team of German representatives.

After 27 years with Merford, Daan Potters has left his post as General Manager, Merford Cabins and taken up a new position as Chief Operating Officer with another Dutch-based company, BTG, which supplies absolute positioning systems based on RFID/transponder technology for AGVs, crane trolleys and so on, so he is staying close to the container handling industry. The new contact at Merford Cabins is Sales and Projects Manager Leendert Kats.

Jean Luc Rolland has been appointed Senior Project Manager for HIMOINSA in the Middle East.

Kuehne + Nagel International AG will propose at the AGM on May 6, 2014 the election of Dr Martin Wittig and Gerard van Kesteren to the Board of Directors.

Jim Spittle will assume the one-year role as President o the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK from current President Jim Steer when he passes the honour at an inauguration lunch to be held on May 16. Jim Spittle is Chairman of GS1, which develops and implements international data standards, and an Advisory Board Member of both de Poel and Cranfield University’s Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, where he is also an external examiner for its MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He was previously Group Supply Chain Director for DSG International, Whitbread and Kingfisher, and a Director of Tesco plc.
