Masaharu Shinohara, Executive Officer for Engineering and Planning, Osaka Port Corporation, Japan, has been appointed as Vice Chairman of the IAPH Committee on Port Operations & Logistics. He is a long-standing member of the committee and is expected to work closely with Committee Chairman Juan A Delgado.
Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff has appointed Mario Povia, Fernando Fonseca and Adalberto Torkarski to the new Board of the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq). Povia will serve as managing director of the agency until 18 February 2016. Fonseca's mandate will expire a year later, while Torkarski will remain in post until 18 February 2018. Fonseca and Povia had served as interim directors for more than a year. Torkaski had been the inland navigation superintendent of Antaq since August 2011 and head of development and inland navigation in 2006-2011.
The head of Logistics at the Chilean port of Valparaiso, Gonzalo Davagnino, has been elected as President of the Board of the Cono Sur Ports Corporation for 2014-2015. The Board is now comprised of the Managing Director of Empresa Portuaria Austral, Ignacio Covacevich (VP); the Vice President of Empresa Portuaria Arica, Sebastián Montero (second vice president); the Managing Director of Valparaiso Passenger Terminal, Juan Esteban Bilbao (Treasurer); and by Carlos Geisse, President of Empresa Portuaria Puerto Montt (Secretary).
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has appointed Neil Morrison as assistant managing director to oversee the port's engineering design and maintenance divisions. Morrison joined the Long Beach Harbor department in August 2009 as director of engineering design and has also served as acting director of maintenance for the port.
James (Jim) Dillman will take over the role of CEO of Jacksonville (FL)-based Diversified Port Hodlings on 30 Maym to replace Terry Brown, who is retiring from the CEO post on June 30. Dillman was previously with Metro Ports and his appointment follows a search process undertaken by DPH with "head hunter" firm Boyden.

John Good Shipping, a subsidiary of the John Good Group, has appointed Peter Shan as UK Trade Manager, based in the Shanghai office of the John Good Group’s partner, Fiege International Freight Forwarder (China) Co.
CEVA Logistics has appointed Hakan Bicil as Chief Commercial Officer, responsible for leading the Netherland-based company’s global sales organisation. In this position he is a member of the company’s Executive Board. He joins CEVA from Panalpina where he was EVP, Head of Strategic Business Development and prior to that he was Managing Director, EMEA for Toll Global Forwarding.
Luxembourg-based pallet solutions company RM2 International SA has appointed Bill Sanders to the newly-created global position of group Chief Operating Officer, based primarily in New Jersey, USA.
