Latest round-up of appointments known to WorldCargo News in the shipping, ports and related sectors
ZIM has appointed Aharon Fogel as Chairman of the company. An economist by training, he is a former Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Finance.
Ruslan Alikhanov has resigned from the position of the President of FESCO. Konstantin Sokolov, First Vice-President of FESCO and General Director of Commercial Port of Vladivostok has replaced him in the post, although Alikhanov remain a member of the Board of Directors of FESCO.
Alice Marlowe has been appointed Assistant Vice President Hamburg Süd, North America operations, in charge of the Pacific coast/South Seas Service and based in the line's San Francisco office. She was previously with P&O Nedlloyd France, Maersk France and American Independent Line and replaces Michelle Barragan who has retired after 15 years with Hamburg Süd.
The Port of Seattle Commission has selected Ted J Fick as the port's next CEO, replacing Tay Yoshitani who is retiring shortly.
The Supervisory Board of the Estonian Port of Tallinn has confirmed Ain Kaljurand and Allan Kiil as the continuing senior management of Tallinna Sadam (Port of Tallinn). Ain Kaljurand is Chairman of the Management Board and Mr. Allan Kiil is a member of the Management Board. They were chosen out of 17 candidates who applied for the senior management positions. Both posts have been confirmed for a term of five years.
The Mayor of Long Beach Robert Garcia has appointed Tracy Egoscue to the Board of the Port of Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners, replacing Susan E Anderson Wise who has retired. Egoscue is an Attorney specialising in environmental matters and is presently on the Board of the California League of Conservation Voters. This is the third time that a woman has been appointed to the Board of Harbor Commissioners.
Ben David Thurnwald will become the sole managing director of Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft mbH (LHG) subsidiary companies Service-Gesellschaft (SG), Skandic Service Gesellschaft (SSG), and Nordic Rail Service (NRS). He replaces Rainer Kuschinsky who is retiring. Thurnwald joined LHG in 1995 and has served as deputy managing director of SG and NRS.
Bob Post is now IT Director at ICTSI’s Victoria International Container Terminal in Melbourne, Australia. He was previously Head of IT & Systems at DP World with responsibility for the London Gateway project.
Port of Everett in Washington State has appointed Les Reardanz as CEO. Reardanz was previously Deputy Executive Director, having joined Everett in 2011.
Braemar Engineering has appointed Alex Harsema-Mensonides as Director of Marine Business Development, effective from 1 September 2014. A well-known figure in the industry, his expertise encompasses all aspects of LNG, including LNG as marine fuel, small scale LNG, LNG shipping and floating LNG. The post is based at Braemar's head office in Maldon, Essex.
Brett Schemerhorn has been named President of NACCO Materials Handling Group (NMHG) Big Trucks Team, a new post based in the global HQ in Greenville (NC). Until a replacement can be found for Schemerhorn’s previous position as VP, Marketing, the Marketing department will report to Chuck Pascarelli, president, Sales and Marketing Americas for NMHG.
Juha Pankakoski has been appointed Chief Digital Officer of Konecranes Plc. He will be responsible for all Information Systems and the overall Process Architecture of Konecranes. He will also assume a wider responsibility for the company’s digitalisation strategy. He will be a member of the Konecranes Group Executive Board and start sin his new position on January 1, 2015.
The Supervisory Board of DB Schenker AG has appointed Ewald Kaiser as the new Board Member for the land transport division. He joins from Militzer & Münch where he was Chairman of the Board from 2008 until 2013 and before that he held senior posts worth Kühne & Nagel. He replaces Karl Nutinger who has left the Schenker organisation. The new Board member for the contract logistic division, which was vacant, is Dr Hansjörg Rodi, Chairman of DB Schenker Deutschland AG. He will be responsible for both positions until a successor has been found for the latter post.
The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR) has promoted L E “Eddie” Jameson from general director regulatory standards and training to assistant vice president safety and standardization. Mr. Jameson reports to vice president transportation and safety.
Carsten Taucke will take over from Gerhard Riemann as the Chairman of Imperial Logistics International BV & Co KG Duisburg as of January 1st 2015, when the latter retires. He will also join the Executive Committee of Imperial Holdings Limited Edenvale South Africa. Taucke is presently CEO of Imperial Shipping, in which position he will be succeeded by Rüdiger Buss, who will remain CEO of Imperial affiliate Panopa.
Kögel has transferred responsibility for the Business Development Department to Volker Seitz, Head of Communications/Marketing. In his new position, Seitz will focus on internal and external corporate communication as well as on successful internationalisation of the Bavaria-based trailer/swap body manufacturer.
