Latest round-up of appointments known to WorldCargo News in the shipping, ports and allied sectors
Rickmers Trust Management Pte Ltd, the Singapore-based Trustee-Manager of Mainboard-listed Rickmers Maritime will have a new CEO as of June this year. Søren Andersen will take over from Thomas Preben Hansen who has tendered his resignation. Thomas Preben Hansen will continue to manage RTM up to 31 May. Søren Andersen was fomerly with AP Moller - Maersk Group ("AP Moller-Maersk") and American President Lines ("APL"), holding senior strategic positions across the tanker segment, container shipping as well as oil and gas sector.
Team Lines Deutschland GmbH & Co KG in Hamburg, a subsidiary of Delphis NV Antwerp, has appointed Benjamin Weinacht as Managing Director. He will manage the company together with Alexander Saverys, the owner of the Delphis group.
Hansa Heavy Lift has appointed Maximilian Harmstorf as Head of its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, based in Hamburg. He joined HHL in 2014 as Senior Chartering Manager in Singapore and his appointment completes the line's restructure into regional divisions including EMEA, Asia Pacific (APAC) and the Americas.
A reshuffle of Transnet senior managers has seen new terminal managers appointed at the ports of Durban and Cape Town. Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) promoted Brenda Magqwaka to become general manager of KwaZulu-Natal container terminals, which covers Durban, Richards Bay and the new giant terminal planned close to Amanzimtoti. She most recently served as terminal manager of Cape Town Terminals, where her position has now been taken by Pamela Yoyo. She started as human resources manager at Richards Bay Dry Bulk Terminal in 2004 and was gradually promoted through the company’s ranks, most recently becoming chief operations manager at Cape Town Container Terminal.
Global Ports Investments has appointed Alexander Dudko as Managing Director of Vostochnaya Stevedore Limited Liability Company (VSC). He previously served for three years as the General Director of Moby Dik, one of the Group's container terminals in the Big Port of St. Petersburg, and had been the Director for Operations of VSC from 2011 to 2012. Valery Mestulov, the former Managing Director of VSC, left the group.
Carlos Eleno has been appointed as the new president of Alicante Port Authority.
ICTSI has appointed Alessandro Becce as the new CEO of its Croatian affiliate, Adriatic Gate Container Terminal in Rijeka. He replaces Phillip Marsham, who has moved to Iraq to head up ICTSI's new operation in Umm Qasr, Basra Gateway Terminal. Becce joins ICTSI from DP World's South Container Terminal in Jeddah. He is a former President of Savona Port Authority and has held senior posts with a number of Contship Italia companies in Italy.
François Lambert has been appointed Head of Purchasing and Financing by the Port of Dunkirk Authority. He joins from senior posts held in the Ministry of Transport in Paris.
TT Club has appointed Kevin King as Regional Director, EMEA. Based in London, he will be responsible for overseeing Member service and business development across EMEA for the TT Club. He replaces Andrew Kemp who has moved across to the UK P&I Club. Kevin King is a US attorney who joined Thomas Miller in 1996 and has worked across both the TT Club and UK P&I Club operations in New Jersey, San Francisco and former Houston.
Frau Berit Börke has been appointed Joint Managing Director, Marketing & Sales, of TFG Transfracht Gesellschaft für Kombinierten Güterverkehr mbH. Mrs. Börke joined TFG Transfracht in 2004 and has worked in a number of management positions such as regional manager, German seaports and sales and marketing. Her colleagues on the Board remain Mrs Kerstin Corvers (operations) and Rainer Gödde (finance).
Craig Jessup, who has US and French citizenships, has been appointed Senior Vice President, Services in Kalmar, part of Cargotec. He has joined Kalmar from Ingersoll Rand where he headed the Industrial Technologies parts and services business for EMEA. Before that he worked 21 years at ABB and was latterly in charge of the global Services business of ABB's Robotics division as VP Customer Service as well as the Worldwide Head of Service Technology.
On April 30, Felipe Joannon will become the president of both SM-SAAM and Techpack in Santiago de Chile. His main task will be to complete the merger of SAAM SMIT Towage.
FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, has named David Ross president of its new Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa Region region, based in Dubai.
Mahesh Kurukulasuriya, currently a director of the GAC Group of companies in Sri Lanka, has been appointed its Managing Director, with overall responsibility of the group comprising GAC Shipping Ltd, GAC Marine Services Pvt Ltd, GAC Logistics Ltd and Mclarens Shipping Ltd. Preethilal Fernando, former Managing Director of GAC Sri Lanka continues his role as Director/CEO of the group of companies. He is responsible for international and local business development and new business acquisition.
The Martin Bencher Group has appointed Jonas Frank as Business Development Manager of its Shanghai office.
Farrall’s Transport, the Cheshire, UK-based logistics service provider, has appointed Jim Perry as Managing Director, while Mike Farrall takes on the role of Chairman.
TydenBrooks Security Products Group’s European logistics centre in Worcester, England has appointed Chris Benning as Operations Manager, EMEA and Beverley Cox to the UK-based sales support team. Both recently joined TydenBrooks from ITW Envopak.
Beverley Bell, FCILT, senior traffic commissioner for Great Britain, will take over as Presidnet of the Chartered Institute of Transport (UK) from Jim Spittle, FCILT at an inauguration lunch on 8th May.
International law firm Hill Dickinson has announced the recruitment of Rachel Hoyland as a Senior Associate in its shipping team. Rachel was the in-house Head of Legal with CMA CGM (UK) Shipping Ltd. She will be based in the Liverpool office of Hill Dickinson, but will be working closely with London.
