The Supervisory Board of Hapag-Lloyd AG has appointed Thorsten Haeser as a new Executive Board member and CCO. He is currently Managing Director of Versatel GmbH, part of United Internet AG, and will take up his new position in Hamburg on 1st October. As a result, the Executive Board of Hapag-Lloyd will have four members: Rolf Habben Jansen (CEO), Anthony J Firmin (COO), Nicolás Burr (CFO) and Thorsten Haeser.
HHLA, Hamburg’s biggest container terminal operator, is restructuring it management organisation. Responsibility for container handling has been transferred, with effect from 1st August, from intermediate holding HHLA Container Terminals GmbH directly into HHLA AG. Container marketing and sales are now managed directly by Dr Stefan Behn within the holding. Other personnel from HHLA Container Terminals GmbH are being transferred to HHLA AG. The changes are aimed at streamlining operational and administrative procedures to achieve shorter decision-making, react faster to market challenges and gain from synergies.
John Fitzgerald is stepping down from his post as Director, ABP Humber Ports, with effect from 30th September 2015. He will be replaced by Simon Bird, who has been CEO of Bristol Port Company since 2000. At the time of writing, BPC has not named a successor to Bird, and it is not known why Fitzgerald resigned.
Italy-based mineral bulk and mining industries engineering group Tenova, part of Techint Group (Italimpianti) has appointed Andrea Lovato as its new CEO. Tenova has also been reorganised into two divisions: Metals and Mining, managed by Andrea Rocca (Metals CEO); and Frank Hubrich (Mining CEO). The division leaders will be responsible for the business strategy and results in their respective areas. “With this new leadership structure a generational change has begun,” commented Gianfelice Rocca Chairman of Techint Group.
DSM Dyneema has announced that Gerard de Reuver has stepped down as President with effect from 1st August. He has been replaced by Golnar Motahari Pour, a German national with extensive global management experience. He will report to Dimitri de Vreeze, member of the DSM Managing Board.
Kim Poulsen, Executive Vice President for UPM Paper Asia and member of UPM’s Group Executive Team, will leave UPM in order to join Kemira Oy.
DuPont Protection Technologies has appointed Yves Le Minor as European Business Development Manager for its Tyvek Air Cargo Cover range.
GAC has appointed Elias Mandas as Sales Manager Automotive, signaling its commitment to further investment in supporting the automotive sector globally. He was formerly European Sales Manager, Automotive, for Goodpack Ptd Ltd.
The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) announced that Clarence Gooden, EVP and COO of CSX Corporation, will be honoured with the 2015 IANA Silver Kingpin Award at this year’s Intermodal EXPO in Ft Lauderdale, Fla, during the opening session on 21st September.Gooden has served two terms on the IANA Board of Directors and is active in several other industry and community organisations, including the National Freight Transportation Association (NITL) and TTX Corporation
