Josef Sedlmeyer has left his post as Joint Managing Director of Conti Reederei Management GmbH, reportedly over a policy disagreement regarding the future strategy of the Munich-based shipping company, which owns 78 vessels aggregating 5.4M dwt including 42 container ships with a total intake of almost 270,000 TEU. His position will be taken by Birger Meyer, working with the other JMD, Michael Huber. The other members of the management team are Josef Obermeier and Christoph Witzigmann.
Carisbrooke Shipping has appointed Heiko Hinrichs and Joschka Boeddelingare to help develop its expanding MPP/Projects commercial management capabilities. The appointments follow closely on the back-of Carisbrooke’s recently added commercial relationship with newly-formed Singapore-based broker Ambro-Projects as its exclusive general sales agent, for projects/breakbulk in the Asian Pacific region and Australia.Ambro-Projects is headed by Jesper Traerup, formerly of Hansa Heavy Lift and Scan-Trans.
Günther Hörbst, editor-in-chief of DVZ Deutsche Verkehrszeitung and former Head of the Economocs Department at Weser Kurier, has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Bremenports (Bremische Hafenvertretung eV) and VIA Bremen Foundation, with effect from April 1 and July 1, 2016 respectively, replacing Uwe Will, who will be retiring, in both posts.
The British Secretary of State for Transport, The Rt Hon. Patrick McLoughlin MP, has appointed Christopher Rodrigues CBE as Chairman of the Board of the Port of London Authority (PLA) with effect from 1 January 2016. He will succeed Dame Helen Alexander, who has been PLA chairman since January 2010, as her statutory term of appointment comes to an end. Christopher Rodrigues is currently chairman of Visit Britain, Openwork LLP and The Almeida Theatre and is a Trustee of the National Trust.
The Port of Stockton (CA) recently appointed Pete Grossgart as Marketing Manager, reporting to Steve Escobar, Deputy Port Director, real estate and port development. Grossgart has 18 years experience working in ports and terminals on the USWC and was also formerly line manager for Swire Shipping's WCNA service.
Doris Pulker-Rohrhofer has been appointed Technical Director and member of the Management Borad of the Port of Vienna with effect from Januar 1, 2016, succeeding Karin Zipperer, who will be moving to the Management Board of Wiener Netze. Menawhile, Fritz Lehr has been confirmed as CEO of the port for another five years when his existing contract expires next year.
Cargotec has appointed Dr Lasse Eriksson, has been appointed as Vice President, Digitalisation as of 1 December, 2015, reporting to Cargotec CIO Soili Mäkinen. Before joining Cargotec, Eriksson worked at Konecranes Plc as Technology Program Manager, and prior to that, at Aalto University, Finland, where he coordinated the research of wireless automation and wireless sensor systems.
Jungheinrich UK Ltd has appointed Matthew Hing as Project Manager within the company’s Systems & Projects Division. His particular area of expertise is the design and implementation of racking systems that ensure maximum pallet density within the available storage cube.
BIFA’s Steve Parker has been appointed as the new President of CLECAT in Brussels, succeeding Marc Huybrechts of bpost in Belgium.
iPrority Freight in the UK has appointed Stuart Stobie as Group Sales and Marketing Director. Stuart will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s global growth strategy, as well raising awareness of Priority Freight’s service offerings in global automotive, aerospace and pharmaceutical industries. He joins Priority Freight from TNT, where his last position was Managing Director of TNT International UK and Ireland.
Walker Logistics in the UK has announced the appointment of Colin Blackall to the position of Senior Operations Manager. He joins Walker from Wincanton.
