Orbita announces Kalmar agreement
Orbita and Kalmar have signed an “Exclusive Agency agreement" that appoints Kalmar as sole provider of Orbita systems for Gate and Crane Automation worldwide.
Valencia- based Orbita Ports & Terminals, the maritime division of Orbita Ingeniería said the exclusive Agency agreement gives Kalmar the rights to “represent and market Orbita automation systems as part of Kalmar’s automation portfolio”.
The agreement includes Orbita’s automation solutions such as GateSuite and CraneSuite, including Gate OCR and Crane OCR solutions, Kiosk systems, Truck Positioning for STS cranes and Automatic Damage Detection in Gates.
Orbita has chosen to join with Kalmar both to develop new automation technology and to improve the global reach of its product offering.
“This is great news for Orbita and we are very excited about partnering with Kalmar, since this agreement will definitely help us increase our presence in the Port Automation market. The fact that Kalmar chooses us as their partner reinforces our engineering approach to terminal automation and our position as a key player in this market. We are very proud to collaborate with a company like Kalmar, which is obtaining great results in introducing automation systems in machinery and terminal processes. We are also looking forward to joining forces with Kalmar in the development of new solutions that help our customers improve their global performance,” said Francisco Grau Cavanillas, Managing Director of Orbita Ports&Terminals.
Tommi Pettersson, Vice President, Automation in Kalmar comments: “Kalmar wants to utilise expertise of selected partners in the ecosystem in technology areas which complement our own offering. Orbita’s portfolio is a good addition to our in-house automation portfolio. Their hardware and software can be seamlessly integrated into our solutions providing our customers added value through pre-integrated systems.”
In 2015 Orbita obtained Navis Ready certification for its Gate Operating System, and will now work towards a complete integration with other Kalmar and Navis automation platforms.
