Latest round-up of appointments known to WorldCargo News in the shipping, ports and allied sectors
MOL Liner Ltd, MOL (Asia) Ltd and MOL (China) Ltd have announced the following changes in senior management effective 1st April, 2016. Richard Hiller, currently Head of Commerce, MOL Liner and Deputy MD, MOL (Asia), will assume the role of CCO and join the Board of Directors of MOL Liner. Mitsujiro Akasaka, currently MD, MOL (Asia) and Deputy Chief Executive Representative, Asia, Middle East, Oceania of Mitsui OSK Lines, will be promoted to Chief Executive Representative, Asia, Middle East, Oceania of Mitsui OSK Lines. Louis Tang, currently President and MD of MOL (China) will be promoted to MD, MOL (Asia). Yusuke Ueno, currently GM of MOL’s Port Projects & Logistics Business Division, will take the position of President and MD, MOL (China). “These changes will further strengthen MOL Liner, MOL (Asia) and MOL (China) as solid organizations, expand our commercial portfolio and partnerships, and help us to achieve innovations that our customers and employees can count on,” said Akihiko Ono, CEO, MOL Liner.
apanese classification society Class NK has appointed Koichi Fujiwara, previously EVP, as its new Chairman and President. Current VPs Yasushi Nakamara and Tetsuya Kinoshita remain in their present positions and are joined by Junichiro Lida as MD. Following these management changes, Noboru Ueda has retired from his post as Representative Director, Chairman and President and EVP Tetshui Agata has been appointed as an Executive Auditor.
Jan Lagasse has been appointed CEO of Zeeland Seaports (ZSP), with effect from 1st May, 2016. Lagasse has served as Interim Director since April 2014 and his new appointment is controversial as it has been rejected by the ZSP Works Council. However, ZSP’s Non-Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Roelf de Boer, a Governor of major ZSP shareholder Zeeland Province, said that the appointment will go through anyway, on account of the high level of Lagasse’s leadership, his views on ZSP’s future strategy and strong support from [other] ZSP staff members.
Danny Levenswaard has been appointed Manager of the Breakbulk Department of the Port of Rotterdam Authority (HbR) with effect from 11th April 2016. Levenswaard has been employed by HbR since 1992 and has occupied a number of management positions, including Business Development Manager for both Shipping and Industry and Bulk and, from 2007, Senior Business Manager Shipping (Bulk & Shipping).
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has approved the appointments of new directors for the Port of Long Beach’s Finance, Surveys and Transportation Planning divisions. Maurina Lee, previously the Harbor Department’s controller, has become the Director of Finance. Robert Seidel, the port's chief surveyor since 2006, is the new Director of Surveys, part of the Engineering Services Bureau. Allison Yoh has been promoted to Director of Transportation Planning from the position of transportation policy manager.
Mikko Puolakka has been appointed Cargotec's CFO as of 1st May 2016. He will be a member of the Executive Board and report to CEO Mika Vehviläinen. He has previously held the positions of CFO at Outotec Oy and CFO at Elcoteq SE. As earlier announced, Cargotec's current CFO Eeva Sipilä will take up the position of CFO at Metso Corporation in the beginning of August.
UK-based container lessor CS Leasing has appointed Kevin Singh as Vice President, Europe to oversee its expansion into European and African markets. He has joined the company from Fort Vale Engineering, where he was Sales and Marketing Director and a Board Member. CS Leasing was launched last September.
Alpha Trans Luft- und Seefrachtspedition has named two joint Managing Directors to replace its existing Managing Director, Fred Eichenseher, who will retire at the end of 2016. Tim Teubert will be JMD responsible for ocean freight services and administration activities. Rainer Hoermansperger will be JMD for air freight, networking and business development. Both are long-standing employees of the company and already have senior managerial responsibilities.
