It is understood that Emanuel Schiffer will retire from his position of Joint Chairman of the Management Board of Eurogate Group later this year (autumn). Formerly with BLG group, he has held this position since Eurogate was formed from the merger of BLG container handling division and Eurokai in 1999. It is hoped to report more on this in due course.
Noxolo Thabatha has been appointed by Transnet Port Terminals as the Terminal Manager for Ngqura Container Terminal (NCT) in the Eastern Cape. Her overall responsibility will be reshaping Transnet Port Terminal’s (TPT) core strategic thrust with specific focus on volume growth, revenue diversification, cost efficiency, and inter OD integration. Other objectives she has been tasked with include achieving world-class operational performance in line with the best practices and driving employee satisfaction at NCT.
The Supervisory Board of Dunkirk Port Authority has appointed Daniel Deschodt to the Management Board. He has been the port's Commercial Director since 2009.
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has appointed Tero Kokko Senior Vice President, Automation and Projects as of 1st July, 2016. He will report to Antti Kaunonen, current Senior Vice President, Automation and Projects who, as previously reported, will take over as President of Kalmar as of 1st July, 2016. Dr. Tero Kokko has worked for Kalmar since 2011, most recently as Vice President, Intelligent Horizontal Transportation Solutions business line. Before joining Kalmar, he worked for Metso Automation in various positions and for Tampere University of Technology where he did his PhD on automation and control engineering.
Roel de Graaf will take on the position of managing director of Netherlands Maritime Technology on 1st July 2016, succeeding Peter Zoeteman, who served as managing director of the trade association from May 2013 to June 2016.
Ing. Elisabetta Bragagni Capaccini has been appointed Health & Safety Director at global cable manufacturer Tratos. Her appointment comes alongside the company raising H&S responsibilities to Board level. An electrical engineer by training, Elisabetta Bragagni Capaccini is granddaughter of the company’s founder Egidio Capaccini, and steps up from her role as the company’s health and safety officer at its Knowsley factory in Merseyside.
The Romanian branch of Union Tank Eckstein has a new Country Manager as of 1 June 2016. Iulian Alexe is managing the business in Bucharest, where he will focus particularly on developing UTA Romania’s sales activities. He will report to Gabriel Moulènes, Area Manager for Central and Eastern Europe.
Rohlig Logistics has appointed Des Hammond as its new CFO for Australia and New Zealand, based in Sydney.
Frank Dixie, Managing Director of PSP Logistics, has announced that Jo Dixie will head up PSP Marine, as part of the company's expansion plan. The Marine Spares Division will be headed up by financial director Darron Strange, recently returned from Korea. Alex Dixie works across all divisions as Operations Director.
International law firm Wikborg Rein announced three new appointments to its shipping and offshore and onshore construction sectors. Nick Shepherd has joined as a partner from Ince & Co. Mike Stewart has joined as a partner from K&L Gates in London. Also joining from K&L Gates is senior lawyer Mary Lindsay.
Independent Lloyd’s broker Tyser & Co Ltd has appointed Nigel Montgomery as a non-executive Director. Mr Montgomery was a partner at international US law firm, Sidley Austin until his retirement in 2015.
