Selcuk Boztepe has taken over the top management position of Turkish ro-ro and logistics company UN RoRo from Sedat Günüsoglu, who was the CEO from 2011-2016. Mr Boztepe has spent the past 19 years with DHL in various posts and locations.
At the beginning of February Oaktree appointed Steve Dawson and Alex Karakassis as joint Managing Directors of its Hamburg-based heavy lift shipping subsidiary Hansa Heavy Lift GmbH (HHL). They took over from CEO Roger Iliffe, who left the company on the same day. Steve Dawson is MD, engineering, technical, and operational activities, while Karakassis is in charge of commercial and financial activities and as such remains in post as CFO. Both have been with HHL since its inception from the former Beluga in 2011. Roger Iliffe was a VP of Oaktree Capital Management when the former Beluga Shipping, in which Oaktree held a 49.5% stake, was shut down in bankruptcy in 2011.
Ted Fick has resigned his post as CEO of the Port of Seattle with immediate effect, with six months still to go on his 3-year mandate. COO Dave Soike has been appointed interim CEO.
Following the departure of Maciek Kwiatkowski, DCT Gdansk has appointed Cameron Thorpe as its new CEO. One of the container terminal industry's most experienced executives, Thorpe has worked all over the worlds, for the past 12 years with DP World, and most recently as CEO of DP World London Gateway.
Global engineering giant Siemens has nominated Jim Hagemann Snabe as the next Chairman of its Supervisory Baord, to take over from Gerhard Cromme in January 1918. Mr Snabe is a former JMD of leading European technology company SAP and his nomination is seen by analysts as signalling Siemens' drive towards digitalisation of products and services.
Members of the US National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) have elected Mary Pileggi as their new chairman on 31st January 31 during its AGM. Pileggi is sourcing and logistics manager for the fluoroproducts business of Chemours Company, an independent, publicly held company formed in 2015 from the separation of the performance chemical businesses of DuPont. She has more than 30 years of experience in logistics and previously worked for DuPont and for Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail).
Pileggi was elected chair of NITL at the association’s 2017 Transportation Summit in San Diego. The Summit brought together more than 150 leaders from highway, rail, and maritime freight transportation to discuss the challenges facing the transportation industry as well as issues around energy, the multi-generational workforce, and leadership.
In addition to Pileggi, NITL members elected the following to key committes:
- Highway Transportation Committee: Jeff Tucker, Tucker Company Worldwide
- Ocean Transportation Committee: Julie Alsup, International Paper
- Rail Transportation Committee: Frank De Castro, Solvay Chemicals
Stig Gustavson will step down as Vice Chairman of Konecranes at the 2017 AGM due on 23rd March, Konecranes has announced. This is a big change, as he was Board Chairman from 2005 to 2016. Svante Adde (Audit Committee chairman) has also stated that he is not available for re-election. This is an eight-person Board and it has proposed that Ole Johansson, Janina Kugel, Bertel Langenskiöld, Ulf Liljedahl, Malin Persson and Christoph Vitzthum are re-elected for a further year. Meanwhile, as previously reported, Terex Corporation has nominated David A Sachs and Oren G Shaffer to the Board of Directors and they will be appointed on 23rd March.
Narrow Aisle Ltd has announced the appointment of Damien Murray to head up the company’s business development across Middle East and Africa. He joins from Aislemaster Combilift and the post is based in Dubai, UAE.
The UK P&I Club has promoted Senior Claims Director Jeff Lock to the newly created role of Global Technical Claims Director and Senior Claims Executive Adam Russ to Senior Claims Director.
