Long Beach port officials have selected Mario Cordero, a former Long Beach Harbor Commissioner and also a former Head of the Federal Maritime Commission, as CEO. He will replace interim director Duane Kenagy in May.
Following a nationwide recruitment process, Ports Australia has appointed the Hon. Michael Gallacher, a former Shadow Minister for Ports, as CEO. He replaces David Anderson, who was CEO for 10 years, on Tuesday, 18th April.
Transnet Port Terminals is to have a new chief executive from the end of April; and the operator has appointed new regional managers for Durban and Richards Bay. The current TPT CEO, Karl Socikwa, has resigned from a post he has held for eight years, retaining the position during a succession of reshuffles. No reason for his resignation has been given.
In KwaZulu-Natal, Sabelo Mzimela has been named chief engineer covering both Durban and Richards Bay, while simultaneously retaining his position as manager of Durban’s Pier 2, in the short term at least. Shane Narainsamy has been named as the new engineering manager for Durban’s Pier 1, Bulk, Break-bulk & Car terminals. Finally, Lewis Takundwa has been named engineering manager at Richards Bay.
Bremen, Germany: Reinhard Peschel, Managing Director for CMA CGM Germany and Central Europe is to retire. He will be replaced by the current Deputy MD, Peter Wolf.
Reederei Dettmer Bremen has appointed Gerald Michael Diesel as its new CFO.
Maritime Authority of Jamaica (MAJ) Director General Rear Admiral Peter Brady has been appointed Jamaica’s Special Envoy to the IMO. Following his appointment Admiral Brady will lobby for Jamaica’s candidature to Category C of the IMO Council.
The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA) has appointed a new Head of Administration, Fae Brennan, replacing Cassandra Kelly.
The American Association of Port Authorties has elected Steve Cernak, CEO and Port Director of Port Everglades as its Chairman for 2017-18 beginning in October. He will take over from Mark McAndrews, Port of Pascagoula's Port Director, who began his 1-year term in October 2016.
Peter Hughes will retire as South Carolina State Ports Authority's SVP Finance and CFO at the end of fiscal 2016-17. With effect from 1st July the new CFO/SVP Finance is Stan Van Ostran, former Vice President and CFO of Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA).
Zurich, Switzerland: Joerg Roehl, the former CEO of Hansa Heavy Lift, has joined the Trans Global Projects Group (TGP) as CEO for Natco Switzerland AG with overall responsibility for Europe.
