Latest round-up of new appointments known to WorldCargo News in the shipping, ports and allied sectors
HH Ferries Group, operating the regular ferry services between Helsingör and Helsingborg, has appointed Johan Röstin as its new CEO, replacing Henrik Rørbaek by the summer 2017. For the past eight years Johan Röstin has served as CEO of Copenhagen Malmö Port AB.
The Baltic Exchange has appointed a new Chief Commercial Officer to support its ambitious growth plans. Janet Sykes, former head of communications at shipping services provider Clarksons Platou, will join the Baltic Exchange on 3 July.
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has appointed Duane Kenagy as the Port of Long Beach’s Deputy Executive Director. Kenagy most recently served as Interim Chief Executive during the search that ended in naming Mario Cordero as Executive Director in April.
The Swedish Port of Norrköping has appointed Henrik Åkerström as its new CEO. He takes over from the present CEO Patrik Åman, who is due to retire. Mr. Åkerström is currently CEO of Alltransport/Östergotland AB.
Sany has appointed Martin Knoetgen as CEO of Sany Europe, to take over from Richard Deng. Mr Knoetgen was previously President of Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment, EMEA. This appointment follows hard on the heels of the appointment of Jann Rene Hansen, as Director of Sales for mobile port machinery. Mr Hansen joined from Demag Cranes (now part of Konecranes) in Denmark. Commenting on the appointment of Mr Knoetgen, Xiang Wenbo, CEO of Sany Heavy Machinery Co Ltd, remarked: "Sany is happy to have an experiences manager to drive our Europe growth and expansion strategy, We are confident that by offring great value to our customers in Europe through continuously expanding our product portfolio with great value proposition and service levels meeting European expectations, we will be able to grow significantly. Strengthening further the management capabilities at Sany Europe demonstrates our strong commitment to the European market.
Due to Terex Corporation's shareholding falling below 10% of all outstanding Konecranes shares as a result of the sale on 23rd May of a further 7M 'B' shares @ €37.40 per share, the Terex-appointed members to Konecranes' Board of Directors David A Sachs and Oren G Shaffer have resigned from the Board of Directors as of that date, in accordance with Article 5 of Konecranes' Articles of Association. There are no other changes to the composition of Konecranes' Board of Directors.
Waalwijk, Netherlands: Magna Tyres Group has announced the appointment of Miss Nora Zhou to the position of General Manager at the new Magna Tyres Singapore office. Miss Zhou has almost 30 years of experience within the tyre industry and was formerly general manager of a leading Chinese tyre company, specialisating in OTR tyres.
Berit Börke has been appointed to the TX Logistik Management Board, with responsibility for sales. She will join from TFG Transfracht, where she is currently Sales and Marketing Director, German-speaking countries, by this November at the latest.
Mainz, Germany: Replacing Frau Börke at TFG Transfracht is Bernd Pahnke, who has been with the DB group since 1990. He has previously been a member of the Board of DB Schenker and Vice President Business Development of Schenker Holding. His last position was Vice President, Port Development at DB Cargo.
RailCargo Austria, part of the Austrian railways company ÖBB, has appointed Thomas Kargl as a new member of the Board, as of 1st June when he will succeed Ferdinand Schmidt, who is retiring. Mr. Kargl joins from Far East Land Bridge Ltd, where he was CEO.
Rajeev Shankar has been appointed Head of Public Relations and Communications for DP World, Europe and Russia, replacing Simon Hall in the role. The post is based in the UK.
At the AGM of ECG (The Association of European Vehicle Logistics) in Malta, Agustin Fernandez, Head of UECC Iberica, was appointed as a new member of the Board. President Wolfgang Göbel, Chief Sales Officer, Horst Mosolf, and Vice-President Mats Eriksson, CEO, AB SkandiaTransport continue with their two year mandate which was granted in 2016.
The British International Freight Association has confirmed the appointment of Pawel Jarza as policy and compliance advisor with responsibility for issues concerning Customs. This role involves working with the trade, HMRC and other bodies to ensure customs processes and policies represent the best solutions for both trade and regulators particularly as new routines and solutions emerge during the negotiations and preparations for the UK to leave the EU.
