Round-up of latest appointments known to WorldCargo News in the shipping, ports and allied sectors
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners elected Lou Anne Bynum as its new Board President and Tracy Egoscue as Vice President in the annual selection of Board Officers. The Board also voted Lori Ann Guzmán as Secretary of the Board. Composed of Long Beach residents, the Board oversees the Port of Long Beach. Guzmán has served as Board President, and Bynum as Vice President, for the past two years. In addition, Kerry Gerot has been appointed to lead the port’s Communications and Community Relations Division, joining from a similar post at Long Beach City Manager’s Office.
Saint Petersburg, Russia: Vladislav Zhukov has been appointed as the new managing director of Sea Port of Saint Petersburg, part of UCL Holding. He replaces Pavel Oleynik who held this position since 2011 and who remains as UCL Holding's Director of Stevedoring, including the company's Ust Luga operations.
Santiago de Chile: The board of directors of SM SAAM has appointed Oscar Hasbún Martínez as Chairman, replacing Felipe Joannon Vergara, who has been in post since 2014. Jean-Paul Luksic Fontbona remains Vice-Chairman of the Board. Hasbún has been a member of SM SAAM's Board since April 2015. He was and still is CEO of CSAV and oversaw the line's restructuring and subsequent merger with Hapag-Lloyd and is a member of the Board of Hapag-Lloyd. SAAM has also appointed a new director, Diego Bacigalupo Aracena. He is CDO of Quiñenco, which has a 50.8% stake in SAAM.
With effect from 1st September, Gordon Clark will cease to be Sales Director for Offshore Cranes at Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock GmbH and transfer to Liebherr-Australia Pty Ltd in Sydney, NSW to manage the development of the maritime sales division in the regions Australia, New Zealand and Oceania, as part of Liebherr Maritime's new arrangements for this region. As part of Liebherr's new Oceania arrangements, Morrow Australia's Liebherr MHC engineer Kalman Kis has been hired by Liebherr and is based in Sydney.
Melbourne, Australia: Global engineering and infrastructure consulting company Aurecon has appointed infrastructure leader Ben Stapleton as Managing Director, Infrastructure.
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, has announced the appointment of Lawrence Waterman as the council's new Chairman. He will replace Lynda Armstrong OBE, who will retire after seven years in the post on 24th November 2017.
