Per Christian Mork has been appointed COO of UECC United European Car Carriers, joining from Höegh Autoliners, where he was Head of Sales, EMEA, Oceania and Hawaii.
Maritime Authority of Jamaica’s (MAJ) Deputy Director General Claudia Grant has been elected Vice-Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments. Her appointment was confirmed at the fourth session of the meeting of the Sub-Committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments held in London from September 25th to 29th. Ms Grant is also the founding president of the Women in Maritime Association Caribbean (WiMAC) which was established in 2015. She was re-elected as president at the Association’s first AGM held in the Cayman Islands in 2016.
Colonel Luis Jiménez, president of Venezeuala’s National Ports Administration, Bolivariana de Puertos (Bolipuertos), has appointed Colonel José David Monsalve as the new managing director of the Port of Guanta. He replaces Humberto Carrillo Montesinos.Jiménez himself was appointed to his post by the country’s vice-president, Tareck El Aissami, in July, replacing Efraín Velasco Lugo. Jimenez was previously president of CVG Venalum, the state aluminium producer.
American Association of Port Authorities: At its annual convention in Long Beach, Ca., the AAPA appointed three new chairpersons to lead respective technical committees.
- Sarah Garza, director of environmental planning and compliance for Texas’ Port Corpus Christi, is now chair of AAPA’s Environment Committee.
- Bill Crowe, senior director of facilities, construction and engineering for the Canaveral Port Authority in Port Canaveral, Fla., is now chairman of AAPA’s Facilities Engineering Committee.
- Martyn Adamson, senior manager of enterprise applications for the Port of Tacoma, Tacoma, Wash., is now chairman of the Information Technology (IT) Committee.
Meanwhile, Steve Cernak, chief executive and port director for Broward County, Florida’s Port Everglades, has begun his one-year term (2017-18) as Chairman of the Board of the AAPA. He takes over from Mark McAndrews, port director for the Port of Pascagoula, in Pascagoula, Miss. The appointment was announced in April this year.
The Redwood City Port Commission, California, has elected its officers for the next year. Dick Dodge is chairman for a term of one year, replacing Simms Duncan; Lorianna Kastrop was appointed vice chair, and Ralph Garcia was appointed secretary.
Fargo Systems, a leading UK-based provider of logistics software to the container haulage industry, has appointed Kate Gardner to the position of Sales and Marketing Lead. The post is based in Ipswich.
