Cooper SH for Svetruck in British Isles

Cooper Specialised Handling has been appointed Svetruck's exclusive sales and service agent in the UK and Ireland

The UK's Cooper Specialised Handling will add the comprehensive range of Swedish-designed and -built Svetruck lift trucks and dedicated container handlers from 10- to 60-tonnes capacity to its sales and service offer, with immediate effect. Cooper will also provide technical support and spare parts.

This puts Cooper SH right back in the frame for Swedish heavy lift trucks; formerly it represented Konecranes Lift Trucks, but this franchise was moved 2-3 years ago to Impact Handling, the UK arm of South Africa's Eqstra Industrial Equipment in South Africa, which represents Konecranes Lift Trucks in Southern Africa.

The franchise provides Cooper SH with an "in" to practically all industrial and materials handling sectors - all kinds of forestry products (including TMF log handlers), iron and steel, construction equipment, offshore supply base, ro-ro and container handling.

The move fits into Cooper SH's existing arrangements with Sany Europe, inasmuch as Svetruck has never offered a container handling reach stacker. There is dual representation on certain height classes of dedicated ECH mast trucks, 15 tonne and 33 tonne FLTs, but this would be a "horses for courses" question. As of today Sany Europe does not offer the same scope of FLTs as Svetruck,  such as paper roll/forestry bulk bale handlers, gantry-mounted mast trucks for laden container handling, and so on.

Svetruck has a good track record in the UK with its former dealer Sleabond Ltd, but the latter company has not been active for several years.

Commenting on the new franchise, David Cooper, CEO of Cooper Specialised Handling said: “Svetruck is a true world leader in its class and we are delighted to be partnering a highly successful business that manufactures, rather than simply assembles, its machines outright.

“A commitment to producing quality equipment combined with cutting edge technology to ensure reliability in the toughest heavy lifting environments is at the core of the business and this is perhaps its greatest appeal.”
