Samskip to retrofit vessel with hydrogen fuel cells
NewsSamskip to retrofit its multipurpose vessel with hydrogen fuel cell technology developed by TECO 2030.
Icelandic shipping line Samskip is acquiring full control of Geest North Sea Line (GNSL) in a deal that, it says, will create Europe’s largest intra-European intermodal/ shortsea container shipping network. Including charter vessels, the combined operation will deploy a fleet of more than 20 ships ranging from 200 TEU to over 900 TEU.
It is estimated that Samskip’s turnover will rise from €250 mill (in 2003) to €500 mill, of which the intra-European shortsea division represents around €300 mill or 60 per cent.
